Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

There are so many negative reviews of this book. I don't know why some people read it without reading the back story that yes it was a child of four telling his parents that he went to heaven. If you knew that I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't have bothered to read it and there wouldn't be so much negative reviews. I guess I don't think ill of people as much as others because I found this boy's story true if at least plausible. I'm pretty sketchy when it comes between God and me so that's why I wanted to read 15 spiritual books this year. The main problem people see with it is that the father is a preacher and I guess I can get that. But seriously what would the point be? People need to learn to trust. I'm sure no one told him about his mother having a miscarriage at age four. Come on.

Okay. Let's talk about the story first before I go ranting again. I believed it. Throughout I did not doubt the story. And no I don't think I'm gullible.…

Eep! by Joke van Leeuwen

Release Date: March 1st 2012
Warren is a birdwatcher. One day he found something in the bushes. It was a bird! Sort of... it had wings like a bird. But had feet like a person. It didn't look like an angel because it didn't have arms like an angel was supposed to have. He looked around, yelled if it was anyone's, yelled that he was taking it, and the proceeded to do just that. And left. He's wife Tina and him took to their "Beedy" who could actually talk. But what Beedy really wanted to do was be free. So goes the tale of Warren, Tina, a girl named Lottie, and a rescuer trying to see Beady again to say goodbye.

This was such a crazy good book. Just pure fun. I have no idea why but it reminded me of a book Roald Dahl would write. It was that good. Beedy was able to change every life she encountered without knowing it. She was just a bird/girl who wanted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and to fly. What more could you want in life? Warren and Tina became her …

Safe & Sound

I know I already mentioned this song but now I saw they put a music video with it and thought I should put it on again. Anyways I can't get enough of it. I recommend closing your eyes while listening to it. It's so beautiful that way. Favorite lines:
Don't you dare look out your window darling; Everything's on fire

I didn't know who The Civil Wars were till I heard this song which I LOVE and I have heard before. Got to listen to them more. I know I'm going crazy with the music thing so I'll stop now (:

This Is a Song About Dave

From A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley

I like the little shadows
You got sitting in your smile
I could watch them for a while
Quite a long while, actually

I like how I never had the call before
To use the word "adore" before
But now I do

I got a little piece of what I want with you

I like how you don't score
At football, or with girls
Except for me
I think we should keep it that way

I like how you say
I'm fucking gorgeous and shake
Off years of ordinary
Cover me with extraordinary
Ways of seeing I never saw before
But now I do

I got a little piece of what I want with you

I consider this Charlie's song even though it's about Dave it's about how he makes her feel. It's the same thing with the End of Her. I think Miranda Lambert is in there because her voice makes the song sound sweeter.

The End of Her

From A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley

She's sitting on the hill
Hoping for a day
When her dreams don't hit the road
She's throwing rocks and yelling
At the sky and at the weather
She's yelling at forever
That's been breathing on her neck

She can't start with him again
He's got the end of her ocean
And he can't give her her

He's staring where she sat
It's the plastic that reminds him
Of something that they had
He says, "I'd give up sex forever
If she'd say we're back together"
But he's making promises he knows
It'd kill him them both to keep

She can't start with him again
He's got the end of her
He can't give her ocean
And he can't giver her her

I consider this Rose's song. I know Charlie sings the blues but her this as a country song and I've got in the back of my head You and I by Lady Gaga. I think  it's the beat. But then it also randomly sounds like Miranda Lambert singing too. A…

A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley

Charlie is the quiet type of girl who is awesome at singing the blues but can never get up on stage to show it. She can't even sing in front of her dad. She was nine when her mom died. Her father has never gotten over it. He went from cool quiet everything under control to just quiet and never around. Whenever she tries to talk to him about something important he looks at his hands and gives her money so she'll go away. She used this so she can get some recording equipment and she hauls it all with her to her Grandfather's for the summer. She works at a music store and sometimes gets singing lessons from one off the owners as well as guitar lessons from the other. The book has songs in the pages so you get sort of the feel of what she is like and what she sounds like even if it's only in your head.

Rose is always with her boyfriend Luke and friend Dave. Luke is always getting in trouble and Dave and her always get dragged down with him. Dave more than anyone because h…

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

Release Date: March 1st 2012
I don't really know how to describe this book. It's very vulgar and everybody's cursing all the time. Good thing it has my sense of humor otherwise I don't know how I'd be able to read it. Please don't think ill of me.

Me is Greg Gaines who is described as rat looking, chubby, and friends with everyone. This is his last year of High School which he has been hating throughout his time there at Benson. He essentially has no friends except Earl but I'll get to him later. To survive High School he stays at an arm's length distance with all the other groups and subdivisions so he doesn't suffer from evil stares, beatings, or other things synonymous with the average High School description. Well in books because my school has never been like that. We have our groups but it's just our friends. We don't care if you're a nerd or whatever... So! Um... yeah.

You get introduced to Earl like 50 pages in which was very co…

Library Saturday #4

Just two this time. I'm trying to cut back because I have a overwhelming about of books to read and they keep piling up so now I'm finally minus three books. So proud of myself. Was going to post this earlier but I wanted to finish Me and Eal and the Dying Girl first but I might not finish before twelve which mean it'll be Sunday... and not Library Saturday so... here they are:

Love You Hate You Miss You now reminds me of Chasing Brooklyn but I'll try not to give it a hard time. Meanwhile Bruiser I'm kind of skeptical with but it's Shusterman so it has to be good.

Anything But Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin

Jason Blake is autistic. He doesn't really express his feelings in the right way. He's supposed to act a certain way so everyone else doesn't look at him weird. He sometimes flaps his arms and when he is really angry starts almost like ripping his hair out. He's working on his temper. He fears disappointing his mother who just wants to find out why he is like he is without really accepting him for who he is. She wants to fix him. But he still loves her like he loves his father who is quiet but deeply cares for him and might understand him more than his mother. Then there is Jeremy who absolutely loves him. Who knows just the right amount of space he needs between them. Who treats him like any other younger brother treats his older brother.

See when someone does touch him or hug him or whatever he feels this weight and he doesn't like it. When he isn't moving he can't concentrate as well. And if he looks at you in the eye it's the same thing. He can wri…

The Bridge of Deaths by M.C.V. Egan

Bill is an average guy. He's more logical than most. He's pretty quiet and has a reserved type of personality. He would love to settle down and meet his true match. But there is also something special about Bill. His dreams well more like nightmares of a plane crashing down. It's the same nightmare he's had for years and in the beginning acts like it's no big deal that he has had many therapists in his life. He's had the nightmare most of his life. In eighth grade? he went on a trip to amazingly Europe. *pouts* This is where it all started. It "triggered" his nightmares... his memories.

Maggie is a sweet life of the party type of girl. She's always been kind of different in the way she believes. Consulting the stars and psychics. She believes that we all have past lives and when she sees Bill in the a section that is just right her alley but clearly by the way he looks is not his she's instantly interested in him. He doesn't believe in pa…

Chime by Franny Billingsley

Briony Larkin is wicked. She must always remember what she did. She sent a wind to knock her twin, Rose, down and she lost her wits because of it. She sent a wave to hit her stepmother which broke her spine which would have killed her if the arsenic didn't kill her first. She didn't kill herself though. Her stepmother loved life. She always protected her. Protected her from what she was. Warned her never to go to the swamp because her and the swamp are dangerous. They cause fire, water, and wind to come up and hurt everything and everyone she loves.. well she can't really say loves because she doesn't love anyone. She hates herself so how could she love anyone? It all comes down to jealousy. Jealousy of her stepmother spending more time with Rose. And for what? She ended up killing her. It ended up killing a part of her.

Now comes in the knight in shining armor right? Well sort of. Eldric the man-boy comes in with his golden mane of hair and his bad boy attitude. He b…

Update #5

Ugh. Haven't been feeling so great so sorry for no posts. I never got to say Happy Valentine's Day to you guys so here is a belated Happy Valentine's Day! I've been pretty off this week. So that's why the book I'm going to read now is one that I should have posted on for the 14th. Oh well... I got into the University I wanted so yay! It's too bad that my teacher won't be there to shake my hand. I keep on thinking how I saw him with my brother on his Graduation but he's going to miss mine. Even though he could be a pain he still was a nice guy. He was really hurting in the end.

Well enough sadness... I'm just posting to let you guys know I'm back and should have two reviews today plus a little extra thing. So here's hoping you've had a great week!

Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

When Sophie Mercer was sent to monster school she had no idea what she would get into. She never thought she'd be best friends with a vampire who may or may not be killing off the school's mean girls, be haunted by a ghost who is actually her dead grandmother, or fall in love with the "pretty" boy of the school. But she did. Then a bomb was dropped on Sophie. She's a demon. And then she drops a bomb on everybody else. She wants to go through the Removal where she can get all her powers and demoness removed but the cost could be her life.

Now I'm sure you're wondering what happened with all of that. Well 6 months later she's still at Hex Hall after declaring she wanted to go through the removal. Her mom is there with Cal which sounds strange writing it now but didn't sound strange reading it so there must have been some sort of arrangement where he moved.... whatever. Her father comes to get her and she spends the summer at Thorne Abbey with......…

Ichiro by Ryan Inzana

Release Date: March 20th 2012

Immediate reaction to this book *gasp* samurais! But it's not that at all. It's actually more profound than that. Ichiro is a half American half Japanese. He idealizes his father who fought in Iraq. He carries around a solider book that once belonged to him and generally thinks he knows it all. His perspective about war changes when he goes from his home in New York to Japan as a result of his mother gaining a job opportunity. He is to live with his grandfather who shows him what war really is about.

The book interweaves the legends and past with Ichiro's story. And then it gets even better when he actually goes into a different world and sees the world of the Gods he's been hearing so much about. All of a sudden these bird creatures and all around freaky looking things are there and he soon realizes that all is not right in their world either. But before all that you might be wondering "What's up with the raccoon behind him?&quo…

Friends with Boys by Faith Erin Hicks

Release Date:  February 28th 2012
Maggie McKay is NOT nervous for her first day of high school. Well that's what she would like you to believe. She's actually freaking out at the prospect of not being home schooled anymore. Why wouldn't she be? After all she has just spent her whole life surrounded just by her family. She like her family are just a cast of characters. She has three brothers two of which are twins. They are mostly loud and dramatic. Her father is a cool hippie sort of cop with his long hair. But her mother isn't there and the subject is cast off usually as a mystery.

She is able to make some friends in the form of a brother and sister with matching Mohawks. Lucy is sooo dramatic like all the characters are making you laugh at all her antics. Her brother Alistair on the other hand seems to be an enigma with some students including her older brother Daniel. But even with all the weird stares she is still able to befriend them. So all seems to be going ri…

Chicken Boy by Frances O'Roark Dowell

His two brothers and sister have just been caught for misdemeanors like petty theft but still. The word McCauley is always treated with expectancy of some trouble. So when he is caught in a fight even without knowing that he was defending his teacher's honor after only the second week of school everyone instantly blames him. And he gets suspended but out of that he gains a friend who is a talker. He's loud, friendly, and generally a good guy. Another thing about him, Henry, is that he has some chickens and those chickens according to him have a soul. Everything starts looking up at school with him finally having a friend but of course it turns for the worse. Now he…

As Easy as Falling Off the Face of the Earth by Lynne Rae Perkins

"Train.  Car.  Plane.  Boat.  Feet.  He'll get there.  Won't he?" (Jacket Flap)
Remember this? This ominous description of this book? Well here I am again to fill in the gaps. Ry has gotten himself into a little bit of trouble. Well let's be honest a lot of trouble. He's gotten himself stuck out in the middle of nowhere after he left his train to get a signal. Why on earth would he do that you say? He just maybe forgot to read an important memo that the camp he's going to is no longer running. So what does he do? Leave his stuff on a train and goes climbing up a hill to get reception on an almost out of commission cellphone. So he heads his way to a town where he meets Del. Del loves fixing problems. And he just happens to be the one to find Ry disheveled with cuts all over his arms, a black eye, and only one shoe. But the big problem with Dell is he's stubborn. And he'll stop at nothing to get him home.
As he's adventure takes place he's…

Library Saturday #2

Second edition of Library Saturday coming your way! This time I'll put more info into them.

Not my cover but I like this one better. They both have their eyes closed. I wonder why.

"Marley has lived in Heaven since she was two years old, when her mother found a postcard postmarked HEAVEN, OH on a park bench and decided that was where she wanted to raise her family.
And for twelve years, Marley's hometown has lived up to it's name. She lives in a house by the river, has loving parents, a funny younger brother, good friends, and receives frequent letters from her mysterious Uncle Jack. Then one day a letter arrives from Alabama, and Marley's life is turned upside down. Marley doesn't even know who she is anymore -- but where can she go for answers, when she's been deceived by the very people she should be able to trust the most?" (Goodreads)

It's a pretty short book so it should be easy to read. I already think I know what's going to happen.
